Julia received a valentine and Mr. W. W. D. gave me a very pretty ring –

Monday 7th February 1859

Mr. C Pike cut the pine and rose trees. In the afternoon the Rev. N Benham called to see Grandma.

Sunday 6th February 1859

Cousin William dined with us. In the afternoon Julia and I went to Wootton Church.

Mother and Julia went into Newport. Julia brought herself a mantle and silk dress.
