Wootton Bridge 1857 -1859
March 28th, 1858

Sunday 28th March 1858

Palm Sunday,  Julia went to Wootton Church. In the afternoon Mr.G.C. and I went to Ryde, we went through Quarr it was a beautiful walk.

I drank tea at Uncles about half past 6 o’clock, I went to Cousins William’s.  The dear little girls sang very prettily about 8.  Mr, Thrower, Cousin and I went and saw the national school rooms, it was a beautiful piece of building, we again returned to William’s about quarter to 9 o’clock.  Mr. G.C. called in, we had some refreshments, after which Mr.G.C. kindly escorted me home to dear old Wootton Villa, it was a delightful moon light night, and I enjoyed my jaunt very much indeed.

Note;- March 23rd The brown hen hatched 5 chickens.

December 27th, 1857

Sunday 27th December 1857

Julia went to Whippingham Church with Mr and Mrs Moore I went to Wootton Church. In the afternoon Julia and I went as far as Binstead Church. We went by Quarr Abbey and home by Quarr Hill. It was a very beautiful walk. On our return we met Mr. W C L and his friend. We was very tired when we arrived home. About 8 o’clock I retired to rest.

January 29th, 1857

Thursday 29th January 1857

Mr. Scot called to see Grandma and wished me to join the church. In the afternoon Uncle Thomas came to see us.

After tea we went as far as Quarr with him.
