Julia very tired indeed, we put Daisy out in Mr Alford’s fields for the first time this year.

Sunday 30th May 1858
I went to Wootton Church, Mr Deacon has had Mrs Deacon and her sons graves enclosed by a very handsome railing. In the afternoon Julia went to Ryde in the evening, Mr. Krothrio and Cousin William came home with Julia.
Saturday 29th May 1858
Julia bought a new bonnet.
Friday 28th May 1858
We had a half hundred faggots from the copse opposite our house. In the afternoon Julia went to Chapel Corner for some stones. Mr George Wall drank tea will us. In the evening I did some gardening.
Tuesday 25th May 1858
I went to Newport. In the afternoon Julia walked in and drank tea with Miss Rolf. She arrived home about 9 o’clock.
Saturday 22nd May 1858
Whit Saturday. In the afternoon Julia walked into Newport and payed Miss Osborn for making her new dress.
Sunday 16th May 1858
I went to Wootton Church, Mr. Scot gone on a visit for the benefit of his health. In the afternoon Julia went to Church. In the evening Mr.G.C. and Mr.W.W. called in we spent a very pleasant evening.
Monday 10th May 1858
Julia went into Newport, to have her dress tried on.
Sunday 9th May 1858
Julia went to Wootton Church. In the afternoon I went to Church, Mrs Alford and Norah was there. In the evening I went to Littletown Chapel. At the Victoria Rooms Ryde there was a funeral sermon preached by Mr. Pritchard on Mr. John Reeves. We heard there was 1200 persons assembled, the text was taken from the 4th chapter of the 2nd of Timothy, beginning at the 6th verse.

I went to Newport. In the afternoon Julia went to Newport.
