Julia went to Wootton Church. In the evening cousin William and I went to St. John’s Church at Newport.

Mr. G. Cooper repaired the sofa.

Thursday 12th August 1858

The anniversary of Wootton Parsonage Sunday School. In the evening I took the dear little children home to Ryde. Mrs A. Dennis and Uncle was gone to Ventnor to bring Aunt home in a pony gig.

Wednesday 11th August 1858

Grandma better. In the evening Annie & Emma Jane and I went to a picnic at Packsfield it was a very select and agreeable party, we arrived home by 9 o’clock by our threeselves.

I went to Newport.

In the evening Cousin William and Mr. ….. called to see Grandma.

Sunday 8th August 1858

Grandma rather poorly, in the afternoon Julia drank tea at Mr. Dores Newport. Cousin William and Mr. Krothson drank tea with us, after tea they walked into Newport. They returned about 7 o’clock. Grandma very ill obliged to go to bed. Julia returned home about 9 o’clock accompanied by Mr. W.W. Dore.

The white hen hatched 8 chicken.

Mr. Hasbow put up a Ducks House.

The Queen left for Cherbourg. Julia went to the bazaar. Mr. Thorne came home with her. Mrs Dennis and Mrs Hunt went in a little donkey chaise.
