Tuesday 6th October 1857

Sunday School Union tea party at Wootton Free Wesleyan Chapel. In the evening Julia and I went to Newport to change a pair of boots. Mr F.C.L. came part of the way home with us.

Mr George Cooper put some shelves in grandma’s Tenements.

Sunday 4th October 1857

Poor old man Barkham was buried at Arreton, 92 years of age, Mr. George Cooper was undertaker. In the evening Mr.G.C. and Mrs. Cooper called to see us. We heard Mr. A. Cooper and Mrs Cooper pass by on their return home to Rookley, after spending a day at Wootton.

Saturday 3rd October 1857

Second bargain Saturday, Julia went to Newport. In the evening, Mr G.C. came home with Julia.

Mrs Wall returned home from the Asylum. In the evening I went to Mrs Tharles with a book lent to me by Mr. George Cooper, arrived home by 9 o’clock.

I drank tea at Woodhouse
