Mother and I went to Newport. Miss Ann Cooper left Wootton Bridge to go to Mrs. Yards to live as under house maid if I am not mistaken. On our return home from Newport I gathered a bunch of blackberries – Miss Matilda Shute departed this life today nearly suddenly, she was staying with Mr and Mrs Hollingsworth and family at Paris.
