12th Saturday - Miss Margaret Bay from Alverstone in the parish of Whippingham was taken into custody upon suspicion of murdering her infant on Saturday the 5th June. She was commited to take her trial at the next assizes Winchester.

13th Sunday - Mr. A. Cooper and family spent the day at Wootton. I went to Wootton Church. In the evening Julia went to Newport arrived home by 9 o’clock.

14th Monday - Mrs Sanders of Fernhill after a protracted illness departed this life aged 70 years. A party of Wootton Villagers went to the sheep shearing supper at Combley.

15th Tuesday - I went to Newport Rev. Mr. Beston called to see Grandma on his way to Mr. Scots.
