Descendants of Thomas DENNIS: First Generation

1. Thomas DENNIS was a Painter and Glazier.1 He married Ann RUSSELL on 18 November 1802 in Alverstoke, Hampshire.2&3 He died on 21 April 1837 in Wootton, Hampshire.1

Ann RUSSELL was born on 31 March 1786 in Arreton.3 She died on 25 February 1880 in Ryde.4 She and Thomas DENNIS had the following children:

2. Thomas DENNIS, son of Thomas DENNIS and Ann RUSSELL, was born in 1804 in Alverstoke, Hampshire. He was christened on 12 January 1804 in Gosport, Hampshire.5 He was a Plumber, Glazier & Painter.6 He married Ann PLAYER on 5 September 1826 in Alverstoke.2 He died on 13 June 1874 in Ryde.7

Ann PLAYER, daughter of Jane (1780- ), died on 12 February 1884 in Ryde.8 She and Thomas DENNIS had the following children:

4. John DENNIS,10 son of Thomas DENNIS and Ann RUSSELL, was born in 1808. He was christened on 1 January 1809 in Wootton, Hampshire. He was a Bootmaker. He died on 10 July 1875 in Ryde.11&12

5. William DENNIS,13&14 son of Thomas DENNIS and Ann RUSSELL, was born in 1811. He was christened on 24 March 1811 in Wootton.5 He was a Painter.15 He married Sarah Ann DORE on 20 December 1843 in West Cowes. He died on 25 December 1846 in West Cowes.15

Sarah Ann DORE,16,17&18 daughter of John DORE ( - ) and Sarah BLAKE (1776- ), was born in 1816 in Cowes, Isle of Wight. She died on 24 August 1885 in Cowes. She was buried on 28 August 1895 in Northwood. She and William DENNIS had the following children:

6. Ann DENNIS, daughter of Thomas DENNIS and Ann RUSSELL, was born on 15 March 1813 in Wootton.3 She was christened on 11 April 1813 in Wootton.5 She married John DENHAM on 11 September 1835 in Alverstoke.2 She died in 1862 in Newport, Isle of Wight.11

7. William Green DENNIS,20 son of Thomas DENNIS and Ann PLAYER, was born on 13 June 1827 in Ryde.20 He was a Grocer.6 He married Ann Sophia AUSTIN on 27 March 1851 in Ryde.20&21 He died in November 1903 in IOW.20

Ann Sophia AUSTIN was born in 1826 in Newchurch, IOW.20 She died in February 1911.20 She and William Green DENNIS had the following children:

16. William DENNIS,17 son of William DENNIS and Sarah Ann DORE, was born on 27 May 1844 in West Cowes.23 He was a Draper.22 He married Amelia Compton LEGGE on 25 August 1881 in Penzance. He died on 26 July 1902 in West Cowes. He was buried on 30 July 1902 in Northwood.

30. William John Dore DENNIS,13&17 son of William DENNIS and Amelia Compton LEGGE, was born on 28 September 1881 in West Cowes. He married Rose Mary CAMPBELL on 5 October 1918 in Islington. He died on 9 February 1962 in Oxted, Surrey.

Surname changed to Dore-Dennis on issue of Identity Cards during 2nd World War.

Rose Mary CAMPBELL17 was born "April/May/June/1886" in Islington. She died in March 1950 in Camberley, Surrey. She and William John Dore DENNIS had the following children:

31. Frances Amelia DENNIS,17&29 daughter of William DENNIS and Amelia Compton LEGGE, was born on 10 October 1888 in West Cowes. She was a Nun. She died on 7 July 1970 in Stanbrook Abbey, Callow End, Worcester.

Entered Stanbrook Abbey at the age of 17 after having been at school there.

32. Henrietta Beatrice DENNIS,17&29 daughter of William DENNIS and Amelia Compton LEGGE, was born on 1 October 1890 in West Cowes. She died on 1 July 1964 in Oxford.

33. Richard Charles Burnett DENNIS,17&24 son of William DENNIS and Amelia Compton LEGGE, was born on 31 May 1893 in West Cowes. He married Laura GADD in 1925 in New Zealand.29 He died in October 1968 in New Zealand.
