13th Saturday, - Very wet morning. In the afternoon Julia went to Newport, bought the Independent Newspaper. I forgot to mention that last Saturday Mother applied at the Town Hall for protection of her property under he new Divorce Act. The application was granted.

14th Sunday, - Julia went to Wootton Church. It was wet in the afternoon so I did not go out the whole of the day, but we spent a very happy day at home. Mr Adam Cooper at Wootton.

15th Monday,- An eclipse of the sun at 1 o’clock, it was a very grand sight. In the afternoon Mr Adam Cooper and Mrs Cooper returned to Rookley. In the evening went to post.

16th Tuesday, - I went to Newport, bought a few shrubs. Had the donkey shod, and heard the very sad news of poor ...
